I was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Being the youngest of three boys, of course,
I was always interested in what my brothers were doing. They were modelers, and I started
building model airplanes with them. I built my first airplane when I was 8-years-old.
I started flying in competition when I was 17-years-old. I entered a CO2 Free Flight and won
first place. The competition was held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The first engine I used was a
.09 ignition engine. I built Radio Controlled (RC) airplanes, indoor rubber planes and Free Flight
gas planes ranging in sizes from quarter scale to peanut scale. I used some kits; however, most of
my airplanes were made from scratch. I designed my own plans, made my own blueprints,
engines and CO2 motors.
I have experimented on and developed my own CO2 motors and sold them all over the world. I
designed, built and sold what one magazine article called the “Rolls Royce of rubber strippers.”
All of this was done through my business, Denton Motors, etc. I have also made and designed
custom parts for modelers and full-scale airplanes.
I never really wanted to get involved with contest leadership because when you do then you
don’t get to fly too much. My first love in modeling has always been to fly the airplane I
designed and built.
I have had some magazine articles written about my CO2 motors and rubber strippers.
I have developed the CO2 motors in possession of the National Model Aviation Museum.
