Mr. Folkerts,
In addition to the information provided below, please see the following:
CFI Background
Date of 1
st
instructional flight w/ flight school: August 2022
Date, N#, and duration for last 90 days of flights prior to the accident – please annotate which flights
included nighttime
N7663T Cessna 172A. Colton flew this plane 4-6 days per week anywhere from 1-4 flights per day. I
have no way of knowing which were night time.
Colton operated as an independent CFI. The students
rented the plane from me and paid him directly for his time.
N22859
Colton flew this plane starting this month. He told me he had one night flight in it before he flew
with Dustan.
He flew a night flight in it with Dustan the night before the accident and then on the night of
the accident.
Based on the airplane reservation schedule, I'd estimate he had around 15 hours in this
plane.
Colton completed his CFII checkride Nov 22 so I would expect that his 8710 at that time would have
some night time hours that would be close to accurate only missing the last 6 weeks or so.
I endorsed
him for that checkride and he was using a paper log book at that time.
Student Background
Date, N#, and duration of flights w/ flight school – please annotate which flight included nighttime
N7663T Dustan started flying in this plane in late August 2022. He had come from Ignite flight school in
Lincoln NE and had around 70 hours with them.
He flew 20 hours in this plane.
N22859 Dustan flew in this plane twice. Both were night flights the day before the accident and the day
of the accident.
Progress wrt training syllabus
Dustan had soloed in 7663T and just last week had completed his solo cross country flights as well as 3
solo landings at a towered airport.
He was working on night flying cross country at the time of the
accident.
