The sanctions are working because of the quantity of nations that
have imposed them on Russia. The more nations that sanction Russia, the fewer avenues there
are for Russia to navigate the sanctions in place. Multilateral coordination is essential to the
effectiveness of the sanctions throughout the course of the Russo-Ukrainian War. In order for the
U.S. to position itself as the global leader, it is imperative that the U.S. continues to foster
multilateral cooperation in the form of the sanctions throughout the war.
The more involved the U.S. is in spearheading the sanctions and multilateral
coordination, the easier it will be for the U.S. to influence the international order in its favor. If
the U.S. is capable of organizing effective sanctions that lead to the end of the Russo-Ukrainian
