What is Creative Kids – design a light?

A ﬂexible competition for celebrations, festivals and Christmas creating an illuminated motif from

a child’s drawing. It provides the opportunity to encourage local children to get involved with their

local town/community. This Creative Kids information sheet provides you with all the information

required to begin your competition.

Who is Creative Kids – design a light for?

Any organisation can participate in this competition and it is suitable for all children of all ages.

How much does it cost?

Approximately £800* per design to be made into a professional and re-useable illumination –

this is based on a motif size of approximately H:1.50m. Should you require a larger motif the

price will be quoted accordingly. Quotations are provided with simulation artwork of the drawing

prior to any order being placed.

Name or no name?

Designs can have the child’s name added in rope light to the complete motif if requested,

please note that this can alter the overall size depending on the amount of letters required, and

in turn will add extra cost to the ﬁnal design. For the name we copy the handwriting or use text

style Comic Sans MS.

Getting the designs to Blachere UK

Original artwork can be scanned and emailed to [email protected] or posted

into the ofﬁce marked for the attention of the design department. Any drawings posted into the

ofﬁce can be sent back to you.

Need help with judging?

Once you have run the competition and you have received all your entries you may feel over-

whelmed with the response, should you wish assistance with this stage please feel free to utilise

the aid of our design department who have many years experience in this ﬁeld. You may wish for

us to oversee all the designs and help with judging or you may wish to let us see a pre selected

How long does it take?

Once we receive the artwork into the ofﬁce you will be looking at the following timescales

1-2 weeks for artwork to be designed for approval

2 weeks for quotation from date of approval.

Approximately 8 weeks manufacture time, please conﬁrm with the design department as this

can vary at different times of the year.

Approximatley 1 week for delivery, please check when placing your order.

If you have a deadline/switch on date that you are working to please keep these timescales

in mind and work back from that date to ensure you have time for running, judging, price

consideration, manufacture and delivery.

What will the complete design look like?

Your designs will be reproduced as a line drawing as close to the original as possible, the

drawing will be interpreted by Blachere Illumination UK. Each design will be manufactured

from an aluminium frame with the use of LED rope light to create the design. On occasions

additional products may be used such as bulbs to complete the designs effect. Please en-

sure that you check the artwork and quotation provided before placing your order.

What type of ﬁxing?

Once you are ready to place your order you will need to think about how you will display

your design, there are 4 options available

Wall mount ﬁxing for mounting direct onto a wall or ﬂat surface.

Transverse ﬁxing which allows you to hang your motif across a street suspended from cate-

nary wire.

Pole mount ﬁxing for mounting onto a lamp column or pole, these can be lateral pole mount

or central fastening. Lateral fastening motifs come away from the pole on one side; a central

fastened motif is secured from the middle of the motif onto the pole or column.
